Landfill Odor Control System Continued
A problem that has plagued the industry despite its best efforts to quickly cover inbound waste streams at the landfill has always been the unfortunate side effect of odor. While it is significantly less in the cooler months; summer brings with it a multiplier affect, as does varying waste streams.
At Bavarian we have always made an extra effort to deal with this issue. We feel we have effectively minimized it; however, there have been some technological advancements over the years with odor control systems that deal with the issue directly
Currently we have been testing an odor control agent that is delivered either through a fogging system sprayer, or via nozzles directly attached to the landfill equipment. Essentially, the environmentally friendly agent is sprayed directly on the waste as it is placed and compacted, or it receives a misting treatment. In either case, the odor is substantially reduced, if not neutralized. We have not made a final decision on the delivery system as of yet, but we are committed financially to have this system in place as early as possible.
