Kentucky's First Energy Cooperative Producing Green Power...
Bavarian Waste Services always had plenty of methane gas at its landfill, but the problem was how to harness it economically to generate green electrical power. After Millions of dollars investing in our community, we set the standard in innovative approaches to alternative sources of energy in Kentucky.
Thanks to the evolution of technology, Bavarian was able dedicate part of our Walton landfill to converting trash to green energy. We produce the methane gas with our decomposing material at our landfill, then the East Kentucky Power Cooperative converts the methane into Enviro-Watts. the facility produces 3.4 megawatts of power, which is enough for 3500 homes.
"We now have green power in Kentucky for the first time," says Public Service Commission Chairman Huelsmann. "We have methane gas that otherwise would be harmful to the environment and are using it to produce energy. This gas is going to last forever. Imagine where that could lead us." Bavarian Online Update
Update: July 3, 2008 We are ready to begin e-bill now in addition to granting online access. However, for the immediate future we will still have to utilize Pay-Pal for payments until we have worked out the final bugs with our credit card processing vendor. Again, we are sorry for the delay, but it is something we are working very hard to resolve.

Update: June 2008
We wanted to update our valued customers and inform you that we have run into some difficulties with our new credit card vendor, which has resulted in not being able to fully launch our new online E-Bill and E-Pay option. We fully expect this issue to be resolved within the next two-weeks. We have enrolled all the folks who signed up, so once this last issue is complete, we'll launch immediately. When you receive your E-Bill, you will able to login into our secure online web page and create an online access account. With your new online access account, you'll be able to pay online, schedule services, review your account activity, etc..

New Billing Card
Effective June 2008, Bavarian will be switching to billing cards for all residential customers. This, coupled with our soon to be available e-bill option helps streamline our billing process and increases efficiency. Best of all, this process reduces the waste stream and aids in the preservation of natural resources. Our Green-Bill process is just another way Bavarian strives to be a responsible environmental steward.
